The art of seeing where we are, just as we are.
On July 31 Gabrielle Martin has offered to give us a special one-off talk about her new body of work at the Castlemaine Art Gallery, “Through the Long Grass.”
Inspired by the local landscape near Malmsbury, these paintings draw us into a world of rare intimacy and reflection. Wild fruit trees, weathered pines, dry fields and a myriad untamed species are given loving attention, along with the occasional human figure. This is an opportunity to reflect on who, what and where we are in the company of a magnificent local artist.
Gabrielle will offer a short talk and respond to questions and observations. Then, if you still have time, we will continue our conversation over lunch at a nearby cafe.
