A Special Day of Zen Practice in Fryerstown, Victoria
On Nov 19 Susan Murphy Roshi will be visiting to Castlemaine to lead a Zazenkai (traditional day of Zen practice) and Sangha Transmission Ceremony for our local teacher, Kynan Sutherland Roshi.
The day will consist of zazen (meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), teisho (dharma talks), dokusan (interviews with the teacher) and the Sangha Transmission Ceremony.
Earlier this year Susan Murphy offered formal Dharma Transmission to Kynan Sutherland at Cloud Mountain in NSW. This event will complete that process and mark Kynan Sutherland's formal adoption as resident teacher by Castlemaine Zen.
This is a moment of great joy and significance for our sangha, not to be missed!

*A Note About Dana
It is customary in Zen Buddhist traditions to practice dana (generosity, gratitude).
Dana upturns the dominant, transactional habits of our culture and replaces them with an ethic of mutual commitment. Giving generously sustains our practice, our tradition, our community and, in a very practical financial sense, our teachers.
Susan Murphy Roshi and Kynan Sutherland Roshi offer their teachings wholeheartedly in the spirit of dana. We have the opportunity to respond in kind.
Dana is separate from your paid registration and a dana bowl will be provided at the venue. Alternatively, you can pay directly using the bank details provided in the registration form. Contributions are anonymous and reciprocate the commitment our teachers make to our practice.
