What is Dokusan?
Dokusan is fundamental to Zen practice. It is an opportunity to meet with the teacher one-on-one to explore your practice in greater depth. It is offered over the phone every fortnight and is entirely confidential. Whatever is most alive in your practice —questions, insights, experiences, challenges — are taken up in the spirit of mutual awakening. Beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome.
Joining the Dokusan Line
For those joining the dokusan line, you are encouraged to sit for at least 25 minutes before your allotted time. Kynan will then call you on the number you provided. The phone will ring briefly and then stop —that is your signal to call him back. Dokusan then begins and continues for around 10-15 minutes.
Dana
Dana means "giving" and is the first of our paramitas. Both teacher and student offer themselves wholeheartedly in the spirit of shared practice. Dana in financial form helps to support the work of our teachers. If you value the tradition and the teaching, you are encouraged to take up the practice of dana.
